Castles Made of Sand

Big summer event at the museum

Scores of statues and large installations made of sand will be built throughout the museum garden by artists from the Zandacademie (the World Sand Sculpting Academy) in Holland and their Israeli colleagues.

The artists, who were guests of the museum during Tel Aviv's centenary, amazed visitors with remarkable talent to produce breathtaking designs in sand; over a two-week period they will produce groups of statues that describe cherished fairy tales from Israel and the world, such as Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, Cinderella, Hansel and Gretel, Gulliver, Little Red Riding Hood, Utz Li Gutz Li (the Israeli version of the fairy tale "Rumplestilskin"), Goldilocks and the Three Bears, Jacob's Dream, Jonah and the Whale, etc.

The event will be open to the public during the evening hours only, and will be lit up with special artistic lighting. A huge sandbox will be put at the children's disposal, in which they will be able to try their hand at sculpting in sand, with the help and guidance of the experts.
