Edward Elkan – Photographs
Edward Elkan was born in Germany in 1895. After he completed his medical studies in 1925 he immigrated to Palestine, equipped with a motorcycle and a camera. He worked as a doctor in Tel Adashim and Kfar Hassidim and also took pictures of the landscape and the different people he met. From 1933 until his death in 1983, he lived in England. Elkan's photographs add a personal view to original documentary photographs; his format was unusual - 12X9 centimeters. He screened some of his photographs using a magic lantern. He bequeathed his photograph collection to Elinor Ben-Shaul, a relative living in Israel.
