The Flags of Simchat Torah

Rejoicing with the Torah is a celebration marking the conclusion of the annual cycle of public Torah reading and the beginning of a new cycle.

The colorful flags were designed to encourage children to participate in the celebration of the conclusion of the annual reading of the Torah, which is celebrated at the end of the Succoth holiday, when children join the dancing in the synagogue.

The flags, favorites among the children, reflect styles and periods, and are decorated with motifs from Jewish and Eretz Israeli tradition. The exhibit shows a selection of flagsú and deals with the flag’s symbolism in Jewish sources and the changes that took place in decoration in the country – from traditional and religious motifs to national ones.
