Transparent

Dan Haimovitch, photographs

The exhibit introduces the visitors to workers who have no rights, no clear-cut status, people who are transparent to the authorities and their employers, people whose future is uncertain. All the subjects had the opportunity to take part in the creation of the photograph and expose themselves in a way that would facilitate an intimate encounter with the viewers. Workers who work for outside contractors are second-rate workers with a precarious future. Euphemisms words such as ‘outsourcing' and ‘privatization' represent a system that creates two classes of workers in government offices, local authorities, and diverse workplaces - those who enjoy occupational security and the protection of rights, and those who are less fortunate. The exhibit seeks to give a face and a name to these workers.
