Faten Gaddes presents a project partaking of a travelogue, which is concerned with the duty to preserve memories. This project was created following a missed encounter with the figure of "Claude," a woman who designed film sets in the capital, Tunis. The faded, painted scenery was taken from the studio of the photographer Adamo, who worked in the city in the 1930s. The history of photography and the history of painted trompe l'oeil scenery are also explored in this work, which thus comes to address three realms of memory. In the past, painted scenery offered an escape from everyday life - the same experience that Gaddes offers her subjects today.
