This artwork displays the different aspects of Anat, the goddess of warfare, hunting, and fertility. She is shown holding a bow from which she shoots a swallow – many goddesses in the ancient world were identified with birds, and the swallow in this work represents renewal and change. Next to the goddess are placed representations of ancient household idols, shaped in a form reminiscent of women’s genitals. The goddess Anat and Household Idols proposes a world view of tenderness and appeasement, calling on us to join hands with the forces of creativity and abandon the forces of destruction.

The artwork was created using “Earthwork” – a mixture of clay, sand, straw and water.
