A view of the events of the past year through the lens of the finest photojournalists in Israel and abroad
Local Testimony and World Press Photo is the largest and most important annual event in Israel and abroad for photojournalism and documentary photography. This is the 17th year that the two exhibitions will be displayed together at MUSA, Eretz Israel Museum, Tel Aviv.
Local Testimony seeks to present documentation of human culture, replete with contradictions, danger and compassion, and present the subject of professional documentary photography to public discourse. The photographs were selected by an independent jury, comprised of leading professionals in the different fields of photography, curatorship, and the media. This year some 6,200 photos were submitted by about 356 professional photographers; of these 210 photos and 6 video clips were chosen, as well as “Photo of the year” and “Series of the year” in the categories of news, nature and the environment, religion and faith, society and the community, sports, urbanism and culture and the photographed story.
As part of the exhibition, several events will take place at the museum, which will offer a critical and profound view of the works and the world of photojournalism in Israel and abroad. These will include gallery talks with the exhibition curator, day-seminars with the winning photographers and more.
