Who
Batya Gil Margalit, b. 1963; Alon Gil, b. 1960
Why
This joint work by glass artist Batya Gil Margalit and ceramic artist Alon Gil explores the fragility of life as a couple through the fragility of objects – made of matter and forged by fire. The introduction of fire into the game of creation and into everyday work gives rise to a “dangerous” partnership with powerful forces. The danger is the shattering of the objects; the reward, as in life, is a welcome surprise.
Where
On display at the Rothschild Center, Tel Aviv Biennale of Crafts & Design, MUZA – Eretz Israel Museum, Tel Aviv.
